JEFFERSON COUNTY, MO (Show Me Live) – The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) will close US 67 at I-55 in southern Jefferson County this weekend to demolish a bridge. MoDOT will completely close both directions of US 67 starting at night on Friday, March 7th and Saturday, March 8th to remove the southbound Interstate 55 bridge over US 67.

Crews will start closing lanes in both directions of US 67 at 7 pm on Friday, March 7th, with all US 67 lanes being closed by 9 pm for the bridge demolition. US 67 will be reopened with a northbound and southbound lane open in each direction by 6 am on Saturday, March 8th. All US 67 lanes will be closed again by 9 pm on Saturday, March 8th to continue bridge demolition. US 67 will be reopened with one lane traveling in each direction by 6 am on Sunday, March 9th. All lanes of US 67 will be reopened by 5 am on Monday, March 10th.

Northbound traffic on US 67 will be detoured onto southbound I-55 and travel to exit 170 where drivers can exit, travel south on US 61 and continue north via northbound I-55. Southbound traffic on US 67 detours via westbound Route A to I-55 exit 175 where drivers will be able to continue southbound I-55 to reach southbound US 67.

The loop ramp in the northeast section of the I-55/US 67 interchange will be closed during the bridge demolition. Drivers on northbound I-55 wanting to travel south on US 67 will be detoured onto northbound US 67 at exit 174 and travel via westbound Route A to I-55 exit 175 where drivers will be able to continue south on I-55 to reach southbound US 67. All detours will be signed.

The demolition is a part of the 27 bridges that will be addressed within the Interstate 55 Corridor Improvements project in Jefferson County. Within the scope of this project, 14 bridges will be replaced, and eight bridges will be rehabilitated. MoDOT will replace the superstructure of four bridges and build a completely new Route CC over U.S. Route 67 bridge.
