CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (Show Me Live) – A Charleston, Missouri man has been formally charged with a Class D felony of terroristic threat after allegedly threatening to shoot up the Cape Girardeau SportsPlex earlier this week. The Cape Girardeau Police Department responded to a call on Sunday, February 2nd, to the 2500 block of Jim Drury Way for a disturbance.

When they arrived, they observed a large crowd exiting the SportsPlex in a panicked state. Officers began questioning bystanders of the incident and quickly learned the suspect, 32-year-old Mackenzie Ivy, was hiding in his vehicle in the parking lot. Officers quickly surrounded the suspect’s vehicle, made an approach, and took Ivy into custody. Officers located a 9mm handgun while searching his vehicle.

Officers spoke with several witnesses on the scene who advised a large group of approximately 50 spectators became involved in a physical altercation. Witnesses advised the fight eventually broke up and Ivy stated, “I’ll shoot this place up” and left the SportsPlex through the main entrance.

Ivy was transported to the Cape Girardeau Police Department for booking procedures.

Ivy is currently being held on a $50,000 cash-only bond and is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
