BONNE TERRE, MO (Show Me Live) – Due to ongoing litigation with the Doe Run Lead Company, the Bonne Terre Mine will remain closed by Doe Run until the legal matter is resolved, owners Catherine and Doug Goergens share on social media.
The couple says, “it’s encouraging that there is hope for a positive resolution in the future. The mine has such a rich history and unique experiences to offer.”
The Goergens hope the situation will improve and tours can resume.
“As you can imagine, we are extremely saddened by this development. Like you, we love Bonne Terre Mine and the friendships we’ve developed with our staff and our guests. We will keep you updated on on developments,” they state.
Bonne Terre Mine is one of the Midwest’s most unique attractions. Visitors can tour and scuba dive in the 150-year-old mine, which is also a National Historic Site.
